Those who love to travel often ponder hotels around the world, sometimes may wond which are the largest. Generally, the biggest hotels will have state-of-the-art accommodations. Certainly it’s true that you will spend much of your time away from the hotel room while you are playing tourist, but the time that you do spend there should be exquisite. You’ll want to be able to rest well in a comfy bed and have fine cuisine available in the hotel restaurant.

So far, it is reported that the largest hotel is in Asia. It is the Ambassador City Jomtien and is located in Thailand and boasts a total of 5,100 guest rooms and suites. If you love the night life and are planning a stateside trip, you should consider the world’s second largest hotel and the largest one in North America; the MGM Grand Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The MGM Grand has 4 towers, each of them being 30 storeys high. You’ll recognize it not only by that, but the huge golden lion statue outside, and the live lions inside the palace (don’t worry, they don’t roam freely). Bearing just over 5000 rooms, your sure to find a fine place to dine in one if nine restaurants and two food courts.

While you’re in Vegas, you might want to plan on staying an extra night or two so you can enjoy a few more of the world’s other largest hotels, the third largest being the Luxor Hotel Casino. The adjoining tower house and the pyramid-like structure have 4,408 guest rooms and suites in it. The fourth largest on the planet is, which also in Vegas, is the Mandalay Bay. It has been a highly popular night spot since 1999, and is the scene of numerous concerts. During the day you can visit it’s unique coin museum and walk-through aquarium. Have you considered a trip to Italy? Well, if you’re already in Vegas, you won’t have to go too far to get a taste of it. The fifth largest hotel, The Venetian, is a replica of St. Mark’s Square and gives you a sample of Italy during its Renaissance period. The Venetian has strolling musicians pretty much around the clock. Their rooms are the largest standard sized rooms, 700 square feet, and there’s sure to be one available since they have 4,049 of them.

If you want to have a huge hotel experience and cover a lot of ground quickly, Las Vegas, Nevada is going to be the place to be. Four out of five of the largest are all there in one city. Even if you’re on a beer budget, you can find a less expensive hotel and at least take the tour of the world class hotels. And who knows, maybe you’ll be lucky and have an Elvis sighting
